MULTNOMAH FALLS in the Columbia River Gorge drops in two tiers — 542 feet from the upper basalt cliff to the lower pool — making it Oregon's tallest waterfall by a comfortable margin. The Benson Footbridge crosses the gap between tiers and has been a photographer's standing tripod since it was built in 1914. The flow is year-round; the snowmelt above is unusually patient.
Rendered in a minimalist, vintage-inspired travel-poster style, this piece captures the two-tier fall against dark basalt cliff, the small stone bridge crossing between, Douglas fir holding the upper edges. Basalt slate, water silver, fir green. A tribute to a waterfall that engineered itself a viewing platform halfway down.
