MINAS TIRITH is the White City of Gondor — seven concentric tiers of white stone built into a spur of Mount Mindolluin, the Tower of Ecthelion rising another three hundred feet on top. The city has been the watch on the western front against Mordor for three thousand years. The horns have called once in living memory. The beacons have called twice. The white tree was thought dead for a long time.
