MESA VERDE NATIONAL PARK preserves nearly five thousand archaeological sites of the Ancestral Puebloan people — the largest collection in the United States — including six hundred cliff dwellings tucked into south-facing alcoves of the Colorado plateau. The people built here from about 600 to 1300 CE, then moved on. The reasons are still under discussion. The dwellings are still standing.
Rendered in a minimalist, vintage-inspired travel-poster style, this piece captures Cliff Palace tucked under its sandstone alcove, kivas and towers arranged against the rock, juniper holding the canyon rim. Sandstone tan, alcove shadow, juniper green. A tribute to architecture that was already old when the Spanish arrived.
Collect your favorite national park destinations — from cliff dwellings to mesa horizons — as minimalist travel-style prints.
