GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK contains 277 river miles of canyon a mile deep and, in places, eighteen across — a billion and a half years of geologic history exposed in layers, and a Colorado River that is still cutting downward by about one foot every thousand years. The Hualapai, Havasupai, Hopi, Navajo, Paiute, and Zuni have all called pieces of it home. John Wesley Powell named the rest of it in 1869, mostly accurately.
Rendered in a minimalist, vintage-inspired travel-poster style, this piece captures the South Rim falling away into layered terraces, the Colorado a thin silver thread at the bottom, a high storm building over the North Rim. Canyon ochre, deep shadow purple, sky rose. A tribute to a hole in the ground that took everything to make.
Collect your favorite national park destinations — from canyon shadows to layered horizons — as minimalist travel-style prints.
