Space Needle Travel Poster

$14.99 USD
THE SPACE NEEDLE was built for the 1962 Seattle World's Fair in eight months at a cost of $4.5 million — a 605-foot saucer on a tripod, designed to anchor the Century 21 Exposition and then quietly outlast it. The legs are sunk 30 feet into solid concrete; the structure is engineered for 9.1 earthquakes and 200-mph winds. The restaurant on top rotated. The skyline grew up around it and finally surpassed it in the 2010s. Rendered in a minimalist, vintage-inspired travel-poster style, this piece captures the iconic saucer-on-tripod silhouette against Mount Rainier glowing pink on the southern horizon, Elliott Bay below, downtown Seattle holding the foreground. Needle white, Rainier rose, bay cobalt. A tribute to the World's Fair pavilion that became a city's silhouette.
