JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK sits at the seam between the Mojave and the Colorado deserts — a high transition zone where the Joshua trees grow on one side and not the other. The trees are technically a yucca, the Mormons named them after a prophet pointing the way, and they have been here longer than the highway that delivered the climbers and the U2 album. The boulder piles came up out of the ground.
Rendered in a minimalist, vintage-inspired travel-poster style, this piece captures Joshua tree silhouettes against weathered granite boulder piles, mountain ridges hazy in the distance, a sky going lavender into night. Desert tan, yucca green, sunset rose. A tribute to a park where the trees pose.
